Data Cleansing
Data Cleansing
To ensure that the privacy and confidentiality of previous users is protected devices undergo a rigorous process to wipe data from the device. The process incorporates the following steps:
1. Devices collected by courier or Reciproc8™ representative
2. Devices held in Reciproc8™’s dedicated secure facilities
3. Devices entered on Reciproc8™ system incorporating the unique device IMEI number
4. Devices undergo inspection and testing
5. Value confirmed and agreed
6. Waste Transfer Note issued upon purchase agreement
7. Sim cards removed and destroyed
8. Devices reset to factory settings and software upgraded. This wipes data from the device and from the physical memory. The data removed includes:
• Address Book/Contact Information
• Call data e.g. call lists, logs, voice messages
• Calendar information e.g. appointments
• Messages e.g. SMS, MMS
• Media files e.g. images, photos, videos, audio
• Emails and attachments
• Application data
Before devices are allocated for re-use they undergo a final inspection to validate data removal. We are able to issue Data Cleansing Certificates should they be required. We are bound by the Data Protection Act 1998.
