Charities

Our schemes are the ideal way to help raise funds for charities, whether you are

  • a charity wanting to raise funds
  • an organisation wanting to raise funds to donate to your chosen charity, or
  • an organisation wanting to raise funds to donate to either of our chosen charities

Through our recycling partners we seek to directly support charities in their fundraising activities. In addition to providing all of our recycling partners with the option of converting their Reciproc8 Points™ into a charitable donation, which we will make on their behalf, we also manage schemes directly with charity partners. We manage the recycling programs ensuring that they are successful and that thay do not absorb staff time, leaving them free to concentrate on the activities of their charity.

We are able to develop and implement bespoke recycling collection schemes to ensure that we work together in the most effective manner. If this is of interest please visit the Contact Us section and let us know.

Our Chosen Charities

Our chosen charities are Jeans for Genes and The Pathway Workshop.

Jeans for Genes is a children’s charity which raises money to help provide care and support services for children and families affected by genetic disorders, and funds ongoing research into the causes and potential cures of these conditions.

Their annual fundraiser, Jeans for Genes Day, takes place this year on Friday 2nd October. On this date thousands of people across the country make a donation to wear their jeans to work or school and raise money for children with genetic disorders.

We inherit our genes from our parents and these make us who we are, from our eye colour, to the dimples in our cheeks, to our susceptibility to certain illnesses. Genetic disorders happen when a gene, or a number of genes, are altered or missing. This means the instructions cannot be read by the body because they are not working properly or they simply aren't there. These alterations in the genes, genetic disorders, can affect a child's life in many ways including their senses, their movement, their learning and in many cases they can seriously reduce their quality of life and their lifespan.

Twenty thousand children are born with genetic disorders in the UK every year, the equivalent to one in 33 babies, about one in every school class. There are more than four thousand genetic disorders that we currently know about. Although individually these conditions are quite rare, together they account for more than half of all childhood deaths. Examples of more well know genetic disorders include: cystic fibrosis, haemophilia, restricted growth disorders sickle cell anaemia and muscular dystrophies.
